Are you an independent thinker?
Its 2012 and guess what? Its the same old same old us, not unless you are prepared to become an independent thinker. This is the year that the U.S.A votes and so will Kenyans and perhaps other countries. Now, what determines who we vote for, is our independent thinking. So far I've had friends who vote for a leader their folks vote for or have been voting for "like forever". Have we ever been our parents? The answer is no. Have these people we votes for ever worked for us as individuals or as a community? How have they done that? Sad to say that i have friends who vote for a leader because they are the leaders their parents have chosen. Even the arguments they pass across are the exact words uttered and argued by their folks. We forget that at one point the umbilical cord and come up with our own beliefs, definitions, ideas and guide generations to come. That is why the youth are considered the leaders of tomorrow. I am who i am not because my father or mother is, but because it makes sense to me. Are our educators to blame for this as well as our parents. I say, yes to some level and here is why. The primary goal of the educator is to ensure that the students develops independent thinking skills. They then will be able to apply these skills everywhere. We will not always expect our parents to make our decisions once we progress to adulthood. Parents should even train their children to think independently therefore just in case they are not around. It is because individuals have personal opinions, experiences and thoughts as well. What suits one should not necessarily suit another. Not all students listen to their teachers but the technique the teacher uses would really help in boosting or challenging the student's independent thinking. One thing about the Western part of the world is that it has fostered independent thinking. Why they are where they are today in terms of development of the individual and even the community, is because of how they have bred independent thinking in their societies. Am hoping you as a person, you are who you are today because you think independently. Such thinking even improves many of the students cognitive abilities. Try it, think for yourself, ask the right questions and the right answers will be next door. i just read the five ways of developing independent thinking from the site here http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/5-ways-to-develop-independent-thought/ and learn more on this. am sure once you follow these steps you are sure to see things from a brighter perspective, vote for a leader who makes sense to you and not your folks.

Surely, it is KENYANS4KENYA
As words matter, tweets come in smarter,
@ahmedsalims, a tweep with tweets of substance,
To me and many, we wake up today to a Kenya that is not the same,
Because of the spoken tweet,
The handy Safaricom Foundation, KCB Foundation,
The Media Owners Assoiciation of Kenya and the Kenya RedCross Society,
All got underway with a humanitarian initiative,
Social media kicked in and helped spread the spoken words in their refined dexterity,
Deloitte with other auditing firms provisioning their services,
In making sure that Kenyans' funds don't find wrong feet for the right shoes,
We are grateful to those who dared to be great,
And find a remedy for their fellow countrymen,
Even Bobby Collymore saw fervor to be Kenyan for a day,
That in its own self is powerful,
May God reward Kenyans,
For we had a theory and it brought out our character,
by adding helping hands at the end of our own arms.

The way it is?
In winter, even when you bundle up, a cold shoulder can freeze you out. Sometimes a ray of sunshine reigns in and gives us hope, but on the upper east side, the slipperiest of ice, is usually right in front of us. Paranoia could actually save your life, why? Because when it doesn't work out you cannot just stand up and leave. Even the good has a dark side, it targeted yes, but it wasn't being nice, it just missed your heart.

THATS JUST IT!
They say its easy to forget your troubles when the weather is warm, but all it takes is one foul breeze to blow reality on your face. He who sews the wind, weaves the storm. All tourists go home and so do all dreamers wake up.

AM DISAPPOINTING YOU, CAUSE YOU DISAPPOINT ME
I wake up today to disappoint you,
Yeah, there, I SAID IT!
You brought this disaster to us,
And since you are my sister,
I never again have to wait long before the next one puts the previous one into perspective,
You and him a band of character,
You picked your responsibility,
And yet still this child on a merry-go-round sees no mother to wave to,
No kiss goodnight,
How does it feel to get an update on your own kid?
You have a new theory that makes your heart walk outside your body,
The man you call a husband,
The man who chaperones your abilities,
One of you should be able to report to duty,
But the child's register marks absents,
So you find a substitute to replace you physically,
You forget, a child is not only reared socially, emotionally,
But financially too,
So Your substitutes demand,
Your so-called "FAIR SHARE",
While you and your man just sit there!
Wish we could have some bucks to spare,
For they are our own too,
You are disappointed in you,
We are disappointed too,
For there is much you can do,
Your children are your corporation,
Responsibility is to you the shareholders not the retirees,
This plan you executed instead of amending it, you expand it,
You have killed your dreams,
And you are injuring more,
Its your fault,
You have messed up,
Face up,
God's constitution has a "Bill of Responsibilities",
The final folly is to think that something fundamental to your welfare,
Should be taken care for you,
You wanna know why these times are not the best for you?
Because you do not consider your responsibilities your own,
Stop saying that it got lost, about sanity,
Simply say it like it is,that you lost it,
Find it, for you are their mother,
they will have no other,
That man you call comfort is nothing but a pyramid scheme,
Its a 50/50 win or lose situation,
But your children,
God invested them in you,
He's got your back on this one,
Keep in mind that parenthood is easier to get in to than out of,
And for now,
Am done disappointing you with my words,
Write to you soon.

An Offshore Account
All by oneself,
An incoherent gulf,
When you are done,
When the wind blows just for fun,
A Nazi sympathizer,
A tornado appetizer,
And just like the wind you follow the scent,
This tweet is not yet sent,
Close enough to launch hostilities,
Turning tables it is,
Cause you shouldn't let it,
Fix your esteem a plate of cheat,
Its your duty not to substitute,
Simply wear a cloth that the launder sees you suit,
Look into the mirror and see through your true insights,
You are who you are whether you are wrong or right under the lights,
Don't settle for less,
You just have you to impress,
Change, get a nose job, but that won't change the way you breathe,
You'll still feel the same earth beneath,
Somewhere only you know,
Not just your birth place but its where you grow,
A passing wind,
Needs no crazy diet to unwind,
Its just an offshore account,
Its not necessarily what makes you count.

Hail to the lady with a Doctorate hat!
I watched u deny me my rights, yes, i watched u rip my esteem apart, yes, i watched u help those whom ur time found worthy, yes, i watched u enjoy ur gym allowances with the money ma folks wired the school, yes, i watched u ignore ma hand right up to earn class participation points, prior to instructor-student relationship we have never brushed shoulders, but ur eyes scream spite, but rumour had it that back home it was a bizzare premise, so u choose to land on me, did u find peace then? U shut a door of blissful degree but u gave me the power to do away with a dormain of decrees.
Sincerely, student.
Sincerely, student.
